Hello

I should have a new IC-80AD in about a week.  I am N6WY, Dave, and my home QTH is Shelby Twp., Michigan in Macomb County.  I do not know of any D-Star repeaters in S.E. MI.  I am looking for any DV simplex in my area.  Does anyone know of a club near Macomb County that may have plans for using D-Star?

I did not see a board that has posting for an area.  Is there enough activity on this forum to have a board for each state?

Hi Dave, I did some research and it appears that the closest dstar repeater to you is K8LCD (147.210+) in Hell, MI. It claims to be a wide area coverage repeater, but I expect that you are too far away from it. If you have a 2m yagi and its up on a decent size tower, you might be lucky enough to get in. I believe that is wishful thinking, but hey I try to be an optimist.

I'm surprised that there isn't a group in the Detroit metro that doesn't have a dstar machine. Hopefully, some of the ham clubs there are planning to do dstar but I have no idea. You might consider getting a DV Dongle for working dstar. There a lots of them on the air and they work great!

As far as having a forum page for each state on this site, I don't think there is enough activity.

Good luck and 73,

Thanks for the reply

I have received my 80AD.  I did make a contact using DV on 145.67.  I have some repeaters programmed but I can not hear any repeaters.  I think my best bet is to hope for a band opening.  I also going to put up a good antenna.  I have a Diamond X-50NA stored in my basement.  I am going to try getting that antenna up in the air.

I can not work Hell, MI from my location.  I need to plan a trip where I can drive though some cities that have DSTAR repeaters (maybe Ontario).
