I am attempting to program an ID-880 using the repeater listing from
http://www.dstarinfo.com/repeaters/Lists/Icom_ImportStandardMemory.aspx

I have formatted the file exactly as specified, but when I try to import it into the software I get an "Illegal data" error.

Anyone got any idea why?
I'm new to D-Star and find this incredibly frustrating.

The error may be due to the length and format of the file. Try downloading the file from Icom

This file seems to work if you have followed the instructions at the top of the page.

"Copy and paste the entire table into Excel. Make sure to include the column header.
Delete unneeded entries (only 99 entries can be imported to a single page in the software)
Renumber the first column
Perform a search and replace to change the • to a space. (HTML doesn't like spaces next to each other)
Save the file as a ".CSV"

Good luck - 73

Thanks for the replies.
after tearing my hair out I found the problem.
Yes you have to renumber the channels, however I made the assumption that these had to match the memory page you were importing into, so if importing into 600-699 the channel numbers had to match. WRONG they just need to be numbered 0-99.
Doh!

AND Yet still one more caveat I have found.

MS Excel, when saving a file as CSV does not cut out all the MS code, this causes the import to fail.
The solution is to open the CSV file in Notepad, do not edit anything, but then save over the top of the original file.
this solved the illegal data error for me.
this may be a peculiarity of the version of of MS Office I am running, hopefully it will save someone else follicles.
