I can see that my IC-E80D is receving GPS data from my external GPS unit.  However, I can not see that it gets to the gateway so that I can see it on APRS.if.  believe I have coded my IC80 correct but I can't see or enter anything in the RPT2 field.
I have used the DPRS calculator, and entered the C1 sentence "MV  THOMAS-DSTAR*3C" as calculated.
I have heard that there are some features with the 'DR' mode, so also tried using GRP UR entering '/DR CQ'  as UR callsign without success in getting my position data over to the gateway.

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks, Thomas DO1TRF

DR mode may prevent you from inputting RPT2.  Try inputting RPT2 with DR mode disabled.  As stated on the www.aprs-is/dprs.aspx page, you should set UR to CQCQCQ, RPT1 to your local repeater, and RPT2 to your local gateway.  RPT1 and RPT2 are -requirements-.  If RPT2 is not set to the local gateway, the gateway will never see the bit stream to decode it.

Hope this helps.

One of the problems is the Icom software for the IC-80 and ID-880H, as it prevents you from easily specifying a UrCall of CQCQCQ and an Rpt2 value for a memory entry.  While I understand why Icom chose to do this, it gets in the way of using APRS/DPRS.  What I found I had to do in the software was:

1. Select the one of the fields in the "Call Sign" area and double-click.
2. Select the desired repeater from your repeater list (you should already have pre-programmed that repeater entry with a gateway, frequency, etc.).
3. Select ANY callsign in your callsign list (other than CQCQCQ).
4. Press OK a couple times and your memory location should show the selected "Your" callsign and the desired repeater values.
5. SINGLE-CLICK on the "Your" callsign and type CQCQCQ.

If there is a better way to do this, I'd like to hear it.
