Equipment Question

In looking at the D-STAR equipment for sale, I found a listing for IDRP2L06 and IDRP2L07 Backbone.  I am wondering what they are used for and are they necessary for setting up a system?

Those are the 10 gig backbone links you can use to connect systems together.

They are not necessary for setting up a system.
