Help

I have brought a DV Dongle and been trying to configure it, I continually receive "Cannot open device localhost:20002"
Running Windows Vista, Zone alarm firewall and Avast anti virus software.

It sounds as if Zone Alarm is blocking access to that port for that application.

Try to turn your firewall off, and then test it to see if it will let you pass.

If that's the case, then you need to set Zone Alarm up to allow the DV Dongle to use that port.

I hope this helps,

I am not totally sure, but Zone Alarm should warn you with a popup when it tries to access the network.

If it is blocking, I would unblock it at the port level and see if it opens it up.

Hi, After talking to Robin, AA4RC, he said there is a running thread on this problem on the Yahoo Usergroup:  Link

Be sure the COM port selected in DVTool is the same as the port your Dongle is connected to. I'm running 64-bit Vista and have no problems with the Dongle.

Assuming you are using Sun's Java and simply double clicking on the DVTool.jar file, the application is javaw.exe  Hope this helps.

PS: I run DVTool on Vista with the Vista firewall with no problem (javaw.exe is allowed to listen on ports).  ZoneAlarm should work ok too.
