OK - If I understand correctly to transmitt on a distant repeater over the gateway I must set:
Your:  "/"Repeater Call with band designation (a,b,or c) in position8
Rpt1:  my local repeater I am transmitting on with band designation (a,b,or c) in position8
Rpt2:  my local repeater with band designation of "G" for Gateway in position8

However - If I just want to monitor all traffic on a distant repeater - Is there a way to do that?

No, there isn't, unless the two gateways are linked directly or on a reflector together.

The only way to do this right now is a non RF solution, the dongle, which requires an internet connection and computer.
